How do I get a quotation?
Send us the details through the enquiry form, call 07812 172431 or email info@hortn.co.uk. Tell us what the work involves, roughly where the property is and anything you already know about the site - access, ground conditions, whether drainage needs attention. We will come back to you with a tailored quotation based on the agreed scope.
Do you provide free quotations?
Yes. We visit, discuss the work properly and quote at no cost, with no obligation to proceed. Nothing starts on site until you are clear on the scope and have agreed it in writing.
Are you insured?
We carry public liability insurance as a matter of course and are happy to provide details of cover on request. If your project involves commercial premises or a managing agent, we can supply what your records need.
Do you handle planning permission and building regulations?
Extensions, loft conversions, garage conversions and new builds usually need building regulations approval,. sometimes planning permission or a lawful development certificate. We can talk you through what your project is likely to require and work with the drawings and approvals you have in place. Where structural alterations are involved, steelwork and load paths need to be designed, which we coordinate with your structural engineer.
How long will my project take?
It depends on the scope. A patio or driveway is typically a few days, a bathroom or kitchen fit-out one to three weeks, a single-storey extension six to twelve weeks,. a double-storey extension or new build considerably longer. Ground conditions, drainage diversions and the weather all affect the programme, so we set out an expected sequence at quotation stage and tell you if anything changes it.
Do you work in occupied homes?
Yes, routinely. Areas are protected, dust and waste are managed, access is kept usable and work is sequenced so the household is disrupted as little as possible. If you are living on site during an extension or renovation, we plan the stages where rooms are out of use so you are never without essentials for longer than necessary.
What about changes once work has started?
They happen, particularly once the ground is excavated or a wall comes down. If the scope changes we explain what it involves and give you the additional cost before the work is done, rather than presenting it as an unavoidable extra afterwards. Any variation is agreed with you first.

Do you cover emergency and out-of-hours work?
Yes. Commercial clients can call on our 24-hour call-out service for urgent building, drainage and water ingress problems, covering board-up, make-safe and emergency drainage attendance. Commercial works are also programmed outside opening hours where trading has to continue.
